An important aspect of science is that it is "measurable" and "repeatable" by others.
Western medicine and Chinese medicine started from the same baseline years ago. Over the year, western medicine utilized many other science disciplines such as chemistry, biology, statistics, and of course the practice of medicine to improve itself while the Chinese medicine insulate itself from the other area by following its own "theory". The result is self evident. Western medicine progress because people always find the problems and subsequently research to find solutions. If the Chinese medicine is to be advanced, it has to be subjected to the same process.
Sadly, the Chinese medicine and its practitioners still lack the will to dump its "theory". Right now, there is no systematic way to quantify the efficacy and toxicities of the Chinese medicine. There is no quality control mechanism in the production, let alone knowing why/how it works.
