The 1918 Spanish Flu started in the US Kansas barracks in April of 1918 and didn't fully go away until almost 3 years later. The number of victims didn't rise to the peak until starting from the Fall of 1918 and lasted into 1920.
2. The novel coronavirus this time has shown that it has many abnormal characteristics from the other coronavirus in history before. One particular alarming thing is - it seems it's somewhat heat-insensitive. How this insensitivity will evolve can only be answered by time. We'll have to wait and see.
