The contract with McDonald-Douglass to assemble MD90 in Shanghai was beneficial as a stepping stone for the Chinese commercial airliner industry. With that foundation I think China saved decades. But the hands-on system integration know-how is new and it is more valuable than the body construction. It is not FAA-approved but the FAA made a deal to "mirror" the Chinese government approval. |
