Thery couldn't use A as that was already taken by Auxiliary vessels (the supply ships). C (for carrier), the next obvious was already taken by Cruisers The next letter in the name "Aircraft" that they could use was R, they can't use I as it would be confused with a 1. HMS Invincible (R05) |
