The main difference between Geithner and Volcker is that Geithner thinks
that the risk should be reduced by deleveraging, while Volcker, who has support from OB, believes that the lending part of banks is much safer than the speculative investment part and argues that the two parts therefore should be separated. Voclker is ignoring the fact that mortgage lending itself could be very risky. |
