A study conducted by Military Direct has adjudged India as the fourth strongest military force in the world, while ranking China on the top of the list, reports Hindustan Times.
Despite its renowned military prowess and massive military budgets, the US has been ranked second with 74 points, while China has been accorded a score of 82 out of 100. The US is followed by Russia with a score of 69.
India has meanwhile been accorded a score of 61, followed by France which has secured a score of 58.
The study has built an index called the "ultimate military strength index" which takes into consideration factors like military budgets, the number of inactive and active military personnel, total air, sea, land and nuclear resources, average salaries, and weight of equipment.
It should be noted that the US is the world's biggest military spender with an annual budget of $732 billion, followed by China which has an annual military budget of $261 billion. Meanwhile, India has an annual military budget of about $71 billion.
