A POLICE attack at the Bataclan theatre is over and two attackers are dead.
Authorities stormed the concert hall after more than 100 people were taken hostage by gunmen late Friday.
AFP reports about 100 people are dead in the concert hall, likely to be the majority of those held hostage.
Hostages were describing their fear from inside the building through text messages to loved ones
They said it was “10 minutes of terror” when the gunmen stormed the Eagles of Death Metal concert and began opening fire at random with AK-47s.
The Daily Telegraph reported the gunmen shouted “Allahu akbar”, God is greatest, as they shot at the hostages.
It was reported gunmen were shooting people inside the theatre one by one.
It has also been reported police are describing massive amounts of carnage in the hall as attackers had toxic explosives.
When police raided the hall people on the outside could hear a number of gun shots and screams.
The Bataclan concert hall is located in an area of Paris well known for its nightlife.
It’s understood the members of Eagles of Death Metal escaped offstage as the attack began.
CNN’s Jim Bittermann is reporting from the scene and said police had been firing at a rooftop position nearby.
Hostages were detained after a mass shooting and explosions in three separate areas in the city centre.
Reports say volunteers are preparing to rumage through the carnage and the number of reported casualties is expected to rise.
French media reports the situation appears to be a co-ordinated terrorist attack.
It is still unclear just how many people are being held hostage, with one official saying there were about 100 people detained, while another said there were fewer.
Reports say the Bataclan concert hall was one of four venues targeted in the attack.
According to AP, at least 35 people have been killed in the attacks — 11 died at a restaurant in the 10th arrondissement.
Police are instructing Parisians not to step outdoors.
