Foreign language translation into chinese language cause significant confusion. The main reason is probably translators' weakness in chinese language and knowledge, but the damage is very serious, giving a perception that the western world is very different. Even Yellow sea get another name, what the world can be like?
"citizen", is a very normal term, it should be translated to (人)民 or 苍生,instead of 公民, which is a brand new term in chinese language. It gives a very differnt feeling.
Another example, "world", should be translated to 天下, 人间, instead of 世界, which is a brand new term as well.
Translation should use existing and well-known terms so people are easy to learn and link to own experience. Translation create new terms, nobody know what it is, chinese people feel their culture and system is very differnt, cause mental and emotional issues.
Each country has own authority to watch new terms. I think China should build own authority to watch new terms used by translators, don't confuse people.
