高速増殖炉原型炉もんじゅ（福井県敦賀市）原子炉容器内で燃料交換用装置が落下した事故で、
原因として装置をつり上げる器具の設計に問題があったと指摘されたことをめぐり、文部科学省の
笹木竜三副大臣は２７日、器具の製造元に対し賠償請求を検討するとの考えを示した。
敦賀市で記者団に話した。

昨年８月の事故で、重さ３.３トンの円筒形装置が原子炉容器の外に搬出する途中で落下。
つり上げに使われた器具は東芝製で、外部有識者委員会が「つり上げ器具の設計に問題があった」と
指摘している。

日本原子力研究開発機構によると、事故後の調査や復旧工事などで計約１７億５０００万円が必要となる。

笹木副大臣は「税金が使われ、金額も大きい」と指摘。
「調査の区切りが付く段階で責任の所在を明確化し、当然賠償請求も検討することになる」と述べた。

We are sorry for your worries caused by dropping the in-vessel transfer machine (IVTM) used in the refueling, during retreating. We’re going to pull up the dropped IVTM as soon as possible and thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident as well as preventing the recurrence. After that, we are thinking of starting the 40%-output Confirmation Test in the next fiscal year and completing the SST so that Monju will be able to start and continue its stable full-power operation. We convince that JAEA can carry out these plans. We think it important to accomplish SST by overcoming this kind of troubles one by one, and finally to start and continue full-power of Monju. Please continue to give us your advice and cooperation. JAEA does continue to put safety first.
