A 6.9 magnitude earthquake was felt from it's epicenter near Mexicali, Mexico throughout San Diego, the East County area all the way into Los Angeles. It lasted about one minute. It was 26 km (16 miles) SSW (211°) from Guadalupe Victoria, Baja California, Mexico.
There were reports of buildings rocking back and forth in San Diego County and Los Angeles.
Preliminary USGS information indicated the epicenter was 19 miles southeast of Mexicali, at an area that has been rocking with magnitude 3.0 quakes all week.
