Shares in Terra Industries Inc (
TRA.N) fell 0.6 percent to $36.14 on Monday after the fertilizer maker said it expects to report that third-quarter operating earnings declined 74 percent, mostly due to lower nitrogen selling prices and weaker agricultural and industrial demand. The shares had initially fallen about 2 percent in premarket trade after the announcement. The S&P mid-cap fertilizer & agricultural chemicals sub-industry index .GSPMA rose 0.04 percent while the broad market S&P 500 .SPX rose 0.1 percent. Terra will report actual results on Thursday.
