Satellite photos show how the situation changed along the LAC

As India and China engage in talks at the diplomatic and military levels to resolve the LAC face-off peacefully, new statellite images have emerged, showing Chinese build-up in the Galwan region. The images have been published by Maxar Technologies. (Maxar Technologies via AP)

The new satellite images are of area near Patrol Point 14, one of the sites where the June 15 clash between Indian and Chinese forces took place. Earlier, satellite pictures released by Earth-imaging company Planet Labs and obtained by Reuters showed possible debris on a ridge on India’s side of the LAC. There was no such structure earlier. (Planet Labs via Reuters)

Satellite images also showed the presence of tanks with a mix of infantry combat vehicles, though camouflaged. Flatbed trucks, excavator machines, dumper trucks too have been identified in the imagery, which suggest permanent defences are being prepared by the Chinese in the area. As reported by The Indian Express, Chinese forces have moved into Indian territory by crossing the LAC at some places in eastern Ladakh: in the Pangong Tso area, and at three separate locations in the Hot Springs sector. (Maxar Technologies via Reuters)
