Bangladesh Navy commissions largest indigenously built warships, naval auxiliaries

The Bangladesh Navy (BN) commissioned two locally built Chinese Durjoy-class large patrol craft (LPC), Durgam (P 814) and Nishan (P 815), along with two 32 m submarine handling tugs, at its Titumir naval base in Khulna on 8 November. The vessels were built at the navy-operated Khulna Shipyard (KSY). The BN’s two new LPCs Durgam (pictured) and Nishan entered service on 8 November. (KSY) The BN operates two similar Chinese-built Durjoy-class missile-armed, anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capable LPCs that were built by China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation's (CSIC’s) Wuchang Shipyard and delivered to the BN in late 2012. It has taken KSY about 24 months to build the second pair to China Classification Society build standards, with material kits and technical assistance provided by CSIC.
