If the Chinese claimed "it is widely known that the South China Sea  islands are Chinese territories", why would these same Chinese stated that "negotiation is the only solution for the dispute?"  The idiotic unthinkable philosophy of the Chinese race is a direct invitation for territorial confrontation.  If you have no intention to stand your ground, give up the claim ASAP; If you want your claim to stand, offer ZERO negotiation.
