一.这段话也是对“美國黑人的命，比中國人的命，金貴一萬倍！”荒唐谬论的驳斥！ 【转】这次要不是有视频，又可能又不了了之。黑人愤怒的一个原因之一就是白人的话往往是 automatically believed, 黑人的 automatically discounted.
我刚到美国时美国最轰动的新闻是一个Charles Stuart 精心策划，把身怀六甲的妻子杀了，嫁祸于一个黑人男子的事件。
我刚到时还没破案，Stuart 说他和环孕妻子开车被一个黑人打劫，结果黑人把妻子杀了。警察马上相信他的话，把波士顿附近的黑人区翻了个底朝天。天天在电视上看到白人警察闯入黑人家，拦截黑人，搜查黑人，甚至殴打黑人。校园里也情绪非常紧张。连一些教授学生也都嘀咕黑人这个、黑人那个。
结果案件方向大转。记着是 Stuart 的兄弟良心发现，告诉警察是 Stuart 把自己的妻子杀了。校园里大多数都不吭声了，只是尴尬的沉默和少数黑人学生的愤怒。
如果没有 Stuart 的兄弟，一个或者数个无辜的黑人可能会铛琅入狱

I have watched this week’s unfolding events, angry and appalled. The words “Equal Justice Under Law” are carved in the pediment of the United States Supreme Court. This is precisely what protesters are rightly demanding. It is a wholesome and unifying demand—one that all of us should be able to get behind. We must not be distracted by a small number of lawbreakers. The protests are defined by tens of thousands of people of conscience who are insisting that we live up to our values—our values as people and our values as a nation.

We need to unite around a common purpose. And it starts by guaranteeing that all of us are equal before the law.

We know that we are better than the abuse of executive authority that we witnessed in Lafayette Square. We must reject and hold accountable those in office who would make a mockery of our Constitution. At the same time, we must remember Lincoln’s “better angels,” and listen to them, as we work to unite.
